Children’s Theatre!

Since I was fifteen years old, I have loved working with children. Children always challenge and show me how wonderful and energetic the world can be.

Bringing Theatre for Young Audiences on tour has been some of my favorite highlights from college. Splitting Hares, a brand new play about archetypes, has helped me engage with children on an even greater scale. The opportunity to use clowning, dance, and improvisation in a theatre production has helped me grow as a diverse and problem-solving performer. As an original deviser during the workshop period of the play, watching the show progress into a full fledged production has been a genuine honor.

Through talk backs, “meet and greets”, and personalized interactions, I have truly tried to use this experience as a lens to inspire future artists. One of my favorite memories was being told, “I want to do this when I grow up” by an eight year old audience member.

As a future Teaching Assistant for the Children’s Theatre course at Montclair State University, I hope to help guide my peers onto developing another project as special as this one for future tours. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work within Children’s Theatre and everything it has taught me.

As Splitting Hares says, “You don’t have to live up to the expectations people put on you. You only have to be who you are.”
